Help with grinding wheel
Hi All
When my father gave me his old lathe 12 months ago he also included a bench grinder to keep the tools sharp. Its a 6" grinder which he had fitted with a BLU-MAX wheel. While this wheel is great for shaping at 54 grit it doesn't give the kind of edge that I'm after to improve the quality of my turnings off the chisel. What I do like about it is the width. So I'm looking to replace it with a 120grit aluminium oxide wheel but I'm having trouble finding one in the same 40mm width as the blu-max wheel. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?
cheers
WH

CWS Store - Grinding Wheels | Carroll's Woodcraft Supplies

Whilst I realise neither of these suppliers list the 150x40mm, it is worth an enquiry as both are very helpful (and forum sponsors)

As Fred has said, Carroll's do have the grinding wheels, but they only have the 40mm wide wheels in the Blu-max style. Check them here.

Yep, Carroll's but think about a 80 or 60 grit wheel. I find 120 too fine.

The 40mm wide wheels are only available in the 200mm size in 60, 80 and 120g wheels.
The 120g is the prefered choice for sharpening unless you have a diamond wheel or tormek.
The 60 and 80g work well for shapingJim Carroll
