Default He's been at it again.

Took the laminating process a step further, and made a 'bottle' form. Reasonably happy with the result. Next stage is to work out how to make the body part out of laminated and tapered staves. Talk about self punishment?

    yep, pretty awesome Powder!
Are you retired? if you are, you must be having an absolute ball with your days working out how far you can push your laminating skills.
Have you got any black timbers, like ebony? I would love to see some black accents/highlights in there......

Strange you should mention ebony Matrix, the next on is already started. It is in ebony and European poplar. Thanks for the nice remarks.
    Yes, I am retired.

Was it laminated as a solid block? Otherwise how did you get that shape? Awesome work.

As a matter of interest, how long have you been turning for?

    Cameron,
The bottom was made from a piece of timber about 30mm thick turned to a shallow saucer shape. The central part was made from staves about 20mm wide and about 20mm thick. The top is essentially an inverted platter. No it wasn't a solid block.

    Tiger,
On and off for about 50 odd years.

    Stirlo,
I did sell in galleries for a while, and had some bad experiences. I also have serious problems with the way some galleries operate, I now choose to keep my pieces. They do not need feeding, leave a mess behind or annoy me. My wife sometimes has a whinge about "all this stuff on the cupboards", though.
