I warned my friend from Canada "in Summer you will find that Australians have two topics of conversation. The weather, and the heat."

Cricket? ...they're no good, they've got it all wrong and have no idea that you need to 'bend' the elbow.

We get three months of 40C+ every year between August and November ,then it rains for two months , the rest of the year it's perfect weather.
Anything below 25C is too cold for me .
Makes me laugh when I hear the national weather in the mornings , "Today will be a scorcher 31 degrees in wheelabarraback" or where ever.

Well, another scorcher in the pit today.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) I am doing some bookwork in the office today but it is already 37 with a North wind picking up strength.
The office is not air conditioned either.

I learnt from last week that 50º+ glue lets go and panels warp like so I've moved any glued panels or glued case parts for my current project into the office with the a/c on at 28º to keep things stable.
Last week bits of plumbing for the dusty where I'd taped 'em with duct tape let go and fell on my noggin.

An OLD guy like you , should spend a dollar and buy an airconditioner.
Unless you have found a way to take it with you.Or better still how to use it when you get there with it.
Money is not much good if you don't use it.
It takes a long time getting it,
so why not use it to your advantageBack To Car Building & All The Sawdust.

Last night I moved some cryo glues to the fridge, along with wax-sticks and some other bits. I also opened and squeezed some air out of my metho, turps and cleaner containers that were looking decidedly chubby. Some other stuff I moved down from near the tin roof.

Many years ago we bought cheap cupboard with the dreaded louvre doors and stuck it in an enclose back veranda with an uninsulated metal roof. The following summer, after a 40º max day where is reached 50º on that back veranda, all three louvre doors sagged rather sadly. I waited for the next hot day and applied a force in the opposite direction and when the were straight I nailed a sheet of ply over the back of each door.
Meanwhile it was only 27º yesterday and 28º - so what am I doing here when I should be in the shed or milling

Forecast for NE Victoria is 44 today, cooler tomorrow at 37, then some respite early in the week. So, more cabinet work tomorrow, then hopefully some turning (I should say scraping) the rest of the week.
And yes, I must put a split system in the shed. I've resisted it so far, but turning isn't that enjoyable when it's so hot. I do worry that the dust will get into the filters though. There must be some extra filters? Does anyone have experience here? I know Ern's A/C looked a little clogged with dust.
