Hourglass sand timer
Hi everyone.
My first time posting here on the wood turning group.
Just need some advice where I might be able to get my hands on the glass globes for a sand timer project. Have hunted all over the internet and come up with zero/ziltch/nothing.
Appears to be a relatively simple project ( 4 spindles and 2 bases ) any info on fitting the glass being what it is "fragile" would be most welcome.
Would prefer if I could get the timer to run for about 15 minutes so is quite large as timers go .
Big thanks for any enlightenment.

Hi Jim
I'll order one of the 5 minute units from you just to try things out " learn by doing".
Will just ask if you also have magnifying glass kits available, have'nt had a chance to check out all your goods as yet.
Thanks a lot for that and expect the order on Monday okay.

Thanks Jim
Ordered two of the 5 minute and a 1 hour sand timer late this arvo.
As the lady on the phone said " they don't bounce " so ordered an extra 5 min one just in case of any mishap.
Couldn't find the magnifying glasses on your web site but was informed that you have them in stock 2" and 2 1/2 ". My next project.
Thanks again

Scientific supplies - Now why didn't I think of that ?????????
It's always so obvious when someone points it out - Lateral thinking- good one Harry.
Yep, just need the glass bits and turn up the timber parts myself.
What I have found is that a lot of the good quality sand timers appear to come from England somewhere and then exported and assembled in say the USA for example .
Many thanks guys

for the magnafying glasses try a telescope & binocular shop. You will probably throw away the existing plastic handle.
