Thread: Huon Pine Turned Box

I had a go at a turned box with a slip fit lid using some 100 x 100 Huon Pine .
A birthday present for My youngest 21 year old daughter. If it made it to the finishing stage off the lathe.
It was a first for me and a first using some scrapers that had to be made or bought .
I made them and I had a few catches with them . I was warned so was being as careful as I could.
I added some negative rake and that mostly sorted the catches out .
The inside was finished with a rub and friction shine while on the lathe with some solid wax . A mix of Beeswax and Carnauba . The outside was given a wipe with sanding sealer while on the lathe . Then given a little shellac later . A polishing rubber with a dab of oil . That was then rubbed back later with 0000 steel wool and given a beeswax buff .
