That's a lovely job there mate and I like the contrasts in it. The candy twist on the uprights really suit it too.
Have you thought about using wooden threads on those uprights? They are dead easy to do with a very simple bit of kit.. I did it on a cake stand and it really surprises folks that it can be done at all..
Those contrasting pieces don't appear in the complete photo? My ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.

Thanks Jonzjob
Wooden threads wouldn't work with the way it goes together in the various guises.
The two finials/contrasting pieces are for when the set up is different its not just a 3 tier cake stand And one I prepared earlier

I have to agree that your is much more complicated than mine Ray!
Mine is just 5 bits and the very top bit is glued in place. This is the setup though and the way the threads are arranged it can only go ne way. But if the top of the centre piece was female it could go as a single level..
A little detail of the top
Box and mahogony. Both a delight to work with.
That one of yours is quite something, especially with all of the possibilitiesMy ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.

John I saw yours on the website and I consider it a top idea. I could possible do a similar thing but time and cost is a factor.
I like the deeper dish idea but its more for nibbles than cakes.
