imitation gold leaf platter
hello folks
I got some time in my workshop today so i made this platter
here is the board of mahogany (cuban i belive) i bought it thinking it had some stunning figure, but on getting it home i ran the planer over it to discover some very plain figure!!! oh well- it turned out to be water marks and bandsaw marks
so its been in the corner of the garage ever since (about 6 years)
the back of the platter finished and oiled
mounted on the vac chuck
masked out ready for paint
white shellac primer
red base colour
I de-nibed the red and put a size on
the first leaf- i wasnt sure where to start so went for the middle!?!?!?
after all of the leaves
all of the loose bits were then gently brushed of
the final platter- which is proving to be a sod to photograph, as in some pics the leaf looks crinkled- the workshop pic is better in some respects
