    smiife that's a nice JACARANDA platter. If you still have the bit of the tree with the pith in it, have a look at that. Jacaranda is the only (???) tree with a square pith. I have done a couple of black rimmed Jacaranda bowls and then used the long point of a skew to cut a "V" groove or two around the rim. I reckon they looked good, and I guess the buyers did also.     Just a black folk art paint from an art supplier. I think the colour was called Licorice, then I just put three coats of Penetrol Wood Oil over the top. Doug

    Hi guys,
    i finally got to finish off the platter , rubbed it back
    and sprayed with satin laquer, the finish is better
    I think, It is going to be a birthday present for a friend
