Hi wm460. Nice memorial to your dogs at the bottom - but do you know your photos have been photobucketted? They look like this to most of us...
It would be nice if you could host the photos somewhere that doesn't trash them (and maybe your pooches have access to the internet in that great kennel in the sky).

I’m really enjoying the lathe, it’s solid and powerful and I’m very happy with my choice. Coincidentally I’ve turned a couple of pieces with indigenous wood. I’ve turned up a couple of ironwood blanks, and finished a bowl in ironwood that was cut and rough turned just before the lockdown.

I’ve just finished a hollow form in sneezewood, with a Kiaat finial. The finial is polished with Shellawax Cream, while the sneezewood is sanded to 600 grit and burnished with some shavings. It has no other finish on it.

For the record ironwood is Olea capensis, sneezewood is Ptaeroxylon obliquum and Kiaat is Pterocarpus angolensis

Thats a nice bowl Colin, the ironwood is a striking timber. The hollow form looks good as well, Kiaat looks like an interesting timber.

Hi Vann,
No, it's such a nice machine to turn on. I did get a second lathe (Walker -Turner) to play with but
didn't like it. Too flimsy.
Have made a mod which the purists will not like but it works for me. Changed the pulleys to twin V belts
and VSD.
Runs smoother and much easier to change speeds.
