    Default new lathe

got a new addition to the shed yesterday, the new jet 1220 .what a great sized lathe it is . used to have a jet mini lathe and thought it was good ,but this lathe for a small lathe it packs a heap of grunt,it has a 3/4 hp motor ,smooth and quiet ..turned two pens ,great for that ,then a seriously out of balance lump of camphor laurel ,handled it in its stride, good price from colin at northwood tools,am very happy.note the tasie oak stand i made for it,bob

yes it is actually a fair bit bigger than the 1018 mini as the name says 1220 it is 12'' swing and 20'' between centres, and from what i recall it was about the same price as i paid for the mini,it has a 4'' toolrest a 10'' toolrest, and has carry handles, which if you have ever had one of these is a great idea.i cannot speak highly enough of this lathe i love it .bob

I LOVE it!!!I got a Delta Midi which I like, and this summer I bought a Delta 14" lathe with swiveling headstock.Gotta get a chip collector so I can move it into my basement,it's out in my barn, and it's cold out there now.
I didn't know you could get one with a 12" swing, that's great,it gives you much more room for ideas!!
    Take care,Steve
