    Default Another little box

Latest box in Northern silky oak. 55mm diameter and 60mm high with mother of pearl inserts on the lid. Hand chased threads in an insert of gidgee in the body, with threads cut into the top without an insert.
    Finished with UBeaut's glow.

Beautiful work as always Jim Was the Gidgee insert planned or did it start out like the lid?

    Hi TTIT,

I use an insert for the thread, otherwise I would loose about 10mm chasing the thread. I sometimes use an insert in the top as well, depending on the species used in the box. In this case I was able to cut a thread directly into the top.
