Mallee root bowl
A friend raided a firewood pile while he was visiting South Australia, and bought back some mallee root burl pieces. He wanted them cut into pen blanks. The bowl in the photo is out of one of those pieces that was confiscated. It is 90mm high and 110 diameter. He and swmbo discussed ownership, and the bowl now resides in our residence......... permanently . Me, I sat on the side line and said nothing.

What an excellent find/score, well done. Damn nice looking piece of turning to bootInspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso

Hey....is that what they look like when we don't burn them?? Blimey nice effort....and the place down the road sells them to burn by the uteload....perhaps it is time to buy a lathe!!!
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.

Gorgeous bit wood Jim. I've got a very odd shaped piece of it that just won't tell me what shape it will take - could be sitting there a very long time.

I've been ignoring those pix, hoping they'll go away. But they haven't.
Dang it, why don't mine come out looking like that? [sigh]
