Manitoba maple burl
A bowl in Manitoba Maple, one of the few local woods we have. It was planted around farm yards and used in windrows as well. About 11 1/2" by 5" by 1/4", finished in lacquer. A donation to a silent auction this thursday. Comments welcomeP1020241.JPGP1020240.JPGP1020239.JPGP1020238.JPGP1020237.JPG

very nice. I like the foot too cos it works with the profile curve. Not just a chunk on the bottom.

That's a fantastic looking burl and bowl. Yep, I reckon the foot lifts the bowl and gives it nice form.
Well Done

Very nice bowl. Nice piece of timber. I also like the foot.
I would like the photos a bit lighter. I use free down load Picasa for adjusting:

Or you could set your camera to the spot meter setting, if available, to avoid reading so much of the white background.
See below for two click adjustment in Picasa. So much timber, so little time.

Very nice. I like the clean simple lines, no beads, coves etc. I also like the the way you have treated the foot, nice and fine. A nice piece if timber and well turned.
