    Default Melbourne GTG

At the get to gether last weekend in Melbourne, I started a lidded box with a threaded lid and didn't finish it. This is the finished article. Made from Cooktown ironwood and measures 75mm high and 50mm diameter. Sanded to 1200# and EEE applied while the lathe was stopped. Finished with glow, again applied while the lathe was stopped and buffed at high speed. Had a fiddle with a texturing tool on the top.

Great to see the finished product.

Always wanted to try thread chasing, so after the GTG I bought a set of these:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Cleveland...#ht_500wt_1180

and will have a go at making my own tools (a lot cheaper than the commercially available).

I wonder if they would bolt down into my woodfast hollowing tool???
That I have never used by the way.
Is that 19 bucks for One of them?

Think I'll go for the sorby set for 76 bucks already made up.

I think you get 4. Don' t think the hollowing tool handle would work.

I may have to learn to silver solder - hope it doesn't cost more in the long run, but at least it will keep me off the streets for a while.
