mods as you go along
Several years ago I designed and built a sort of suped up Stubby and from time to time I add a mod or two. This one is a steady as my regular steady wont fit this lathe. But I ran into a problem, not enough material. OK they will deliver in this lock-down climate. Nah as its not much steel , infact the delivery fee would be greater than the order. So I cobbled the left hand side out of what I have lying around, should do the job but will have some limitations. The thing is we are down sizing to a new location down the coast and I am using up as much material as I can before the event. I have enough issues with my timber pile without adding steel to it as well
As you can see the set up is not standard as the banjo has a cam lock to handle the tool rest, both 25mm and 1" dia are fine with it. The curved tool rest is my go to standard option it has several 8mm hole drilled in it to take a Irons Gate set up. The is for sweeping across the bottom of hollow vessels when you really cant see whats going, sort of braille turning
