    Default Oak platter with red cedar rim

    The ingredients for this platter, an old oak table top and leftover pieces of red cedar.
    Diameter 310 mm, finished with two layers Acryllic decorative lacquer.

    Nice piece Ad, Very nicely turned and finished. I hope there is no conflict between movement of the oak and the laminated rim.

    Nice.

    How do you mate the rim to the body? Precision machining is an interesting challenge, but I'm testing a trick with a band saw, for segmented work in general.

    Ad the blend looks great

    I have some oak and Rosewood might be more suitable as a match might have to give that a go ............one day

    This is how is made the rim to the oak body, see sketch.
    Did it for the first time, since I saw PVA glue creeping movements in segmented constructions, hope this will help
