Default Painted Finish used by Michael Scarborough

The above turner's finish to his Japanese inspired tea pots has captured my attention. He is the featured turner in the latest download of Woodturning magazine. Below is his website.

Has anyone experimented with this type of painted finish?

What type of paint and brand would you use that is readily available in Australia?

    Thumbs up

Yes urushi is a type of lacquer made from tree sap. It takes much patience to apply and a while to harden up.

    Several layers are applied.

I suspect the material would be very expensive to purchase out here.

Google urushi pens. Some stunning stuphph.
