The more I look at the two slotted one the better I like it, it is not as fussy as the others. As for the failed one well not so much a failure but an interesting pattern with a wide slot and a narrow slot worth following on.
As for the double one that is just great.
The first thing I thought when I saw this one was a DNA double helix... maybe drill some holes through the two wood sections and glue in contrasting dowels :2tsup:

It would be a lot of work but I think a salt and pepper grinder cut out and then cast in resin so the void is filled than them turned into the grinder would be pretty impressive as well :2tsup:
