    Default My pallet challenge bowl

Evening all, I'm guessing a few of you saw the pallet challenge competition so for those who didn't... here is my entry with a few more behind the scenes pics.

Here is where I got my inspiration from as well.

I used Titebond II coloured with black oxide resin to get the glue lines. As you can see there is some colour bleed but overall I'm happy with the result. Finished with my standard Kunos Oil

Hi Corbs, not bad . If you do that again coat the surfaces with a diluted glue and let it dry before using the coloured glue. That will prevent glue bleed. A right pita but it works.

Hi Corbs, I'm not really a bowl guy & not a segmented one either but I actually like this.
The bleed is of no real consequence as its pine from a pallet so who cares.
I think it would be a great conversation starter.

Thanks Jim, I wasn't aware of that but don't think I would have had time to complete the project by doing so even if I were

If I do it again it won't be out of pine and I will probably use veneers to get the contrasts rather than colour the glue

That's a good tip Jim! Are we talking diluted PVA glue here???

Very inventive Corbs. The end result, given the time, looks great!

I am always blown away as to how inventive people can be. To be able to foresee a bowl in a pallet!! I think its a great design and execution. To my mind it looks like papier mache. I like the pronounced glue lines. Yeh I like it a lot. Is it any wonder that we can sleep peacefully at night knowing that our armed forces have people like Corbs to lookout for us.
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Thanks again team... Chuck, the logs in the background are Elm, the ends are sealed with paint. There's some great colour in them and I'm going to get some very nice bowls out of them as well

Just to be clear guys, the idea isn't mine. I posted a link to the inspiration in my original post
