    Default Pencil Willow

Has anyone turned Pencil Willow (Salix chilienses)

We cut one down at about 15m tall & 400mm diameter base.
We have the option of another 4 on Wed , so if it is good wood could you please let me know.
    Cheers

So I take it nobody has turned this timber.
That's amazing, as it is a Declared Weed in Australia so there must be thousand of them around.

I haven't turned it before but if you want to send me a piece to add to my egg collection I'll tell you what it's like to turn

TTIT, I have sent you a PM offering you other species as well.

See photo of end grain & bark, logs are about 400mm diameter & will be halved for bowl blanks later today.
Have turned a couple of blanks, 1 has been sealed & is indoors just seeing what will happen, the other is in a paper bag surrounded with shavings up the shed.

Second photo shows WA Silky Oak blanks all about 500mm sealed & ready for our club members

Never turned it, nor actually ever heard of it . How about turning some green so we can see the grain & colour.
