First "platter"
I everyone. I started this off as a bowl, but then changed my mind to make it more of a platter. It is the first one like it that I have made.

Well I worked out what it's made of 'cos it says so in one of the pic's, but how big is it please. So it that a spalt line or an effect of the wood, we don'r get any of it over here.
As for the platter, a nice shape and a very good finish.Dragonfly

Hi Dragonfly. It is 245mm diameter by 35mm deep.
The timber is Blackheart Sassafras. It's a Tasmanian timber which is well known over here by the dark lines running through it. What I particularly like about the timber is the way that the dark line separates two shades either side. If you look closely at the pic of the top of the bowl, you can see that even in the sharp dagger section of the black line, it still separates two different shades of timber on either side of the line.
