    Default Plugs for salt shakers

    G'day
What a people using to plug the bottom of salt and pepper shakers?
I have seen little plastic plugs which are fitted as protective seals to stainless steel valves when you buy them which would be ideal but don't know where to get them.
I have also seen a picture of O ring seals fitted to turned wooden plugs .
    Any suggstions ?

    Hi Troy and all

    I use the 'W' series sizes W005, W007 and W009.

In my shaker bases I drill a hole smaller than the smallest diameter of the plug and then taper the hole to suit. I try to make my recess a bit on deeper side so that I have plenty of plug sticking out. This allows for a tighter fit on the plug, plus room to get your fingers in to get the plug out. You just have to make sure that you don't make the taper to big and the plug disapears up the inside. Trial and error on a few scraps will give you the idea.

    Have fun

    Tony
