Turning the garage red
Hi Guys
I picked up a peice of Padouk from Trend Timbers at the Sydney WWW show. I had only tried it once before on about the second or third pen I made. So, with nothing much on the agenda today I thought I would familiarise myself with this type of wood. I was amazed how hard it was, and the heat coming off it (note to self to check sharpness of my chisels). The other thing I discovered was that it creates a lot of red dust (also note to self; check extractor for a blockage as suction seems down). Well after spreading red dust far and wide I came out with a small bowl I was very happy with though I could have made the walls a little thinner (ok, probably a lot thinner). It is about 15cm wide and 7cm deep. Sanded to 1200 then EEE and Glow.
Hope you like it.

Very nice looking bowl. Just worry about form and finish, thickness will decrease with practice and confidence.
