Thanks, Cliff.
I was having a great day until "airport" time was near. That's the price you pay.
But - aside from a great weekend - I got to see the ultimate pile of wood at CJ's place, plus his 40 odd lathes, saw the big Prossie bowl and pen too. On my 50th.
Now, about Proserpine....
1. The weather has tricked me into going back next year. No heat, no humidity. Probably not next year though.
2. While we didn't get a forum pic, we have signed up at least 2 new members. I hope.
3. The food was OK, the hot stuff a little on the cold / luke warm side though. Some feedback for the Prossie guys.
4. It was great catching up with the QLD forum guys, Cliff, Jim (Powderpost) and Vern (TTIT) in particular.
5. I was responsible for the "Cliff eye episode". (Ken W took some of my firewood up and some of it ended up in Cliff's eye.)
6. 's explosion was not premeditated. Just before the BANG, he heard the crack but wasn't able to turn the lathe off quickly enough.
7. Not all QLD people drink that XXXX stuff. (I was ready to abuse them, hooking into an ever-decreasing supply of VB).
8. Like the Phillip Island event, we need to somehow get some bigger lathes under the tent. Mini lathes are handy, but it hampers the event.
9. I don't know how the Prossue guys did it all. 6-8 people, plus the ladies. What a magnificent effort.
10. L, P, I, and E plates are almost mandatory. (Learner, Probationary, Intermediate and Expert). I don't know how we do that without causing offence. I'm happy to wear the L's for a while yet. I probably should add "Looker", as there were plenty of those.
11. An important one, I asked Cliff to bring something "unturnable" for the Weird and Wonderful. Boree apparently. Ken (and I ) loved the stuff.
12. A lot of wood was exchanged. Great fellowship / friendship. And not one attending made me feel unwelcome.
13. People, I know it's a long way, but you must listen to Cliff on the guitar. He played every tune in the background (and afterwards) with aplomb.
14. Next year is the 10th Anniversary. If you can make, do so.
I've probably omitted many of the highlights, but Prossie should not be missed.

Thanks for the compliments Jeff, surprised no one has mentioned the impromtu performance by Gordon Ward & Theo Alphabet up at the dam. That was worth the registration fee alone! I took down 650Kg of Burdekin Plum for Ken W, and he only took 100Kg back to mexico, so Mr Jetstar and Qantas must have freaked out on monday, when everyone went home, cause I only brought 50Kg back home.

Hope to see that lot next year myself!
No such thing as bad weather up here - just wet or dry
Oooops! must have forgotten to mention the 'backups' I had in the ute - - - just in case
I'll second that
I gave Ken the 'ultimate unturnable' chunk of wood (Quinine) when he stopped in at Emerald - he kept it out of sight at Prossy though
He's right you know

Cliff - I thought you sent a heap of Boree home with Ken???
And I did forgot the piece Ken started on and never finished. It had a prior life as a fencepost and it sure looked hard. And that piece definitely went in the trailer, so remind Ken about it in a month or so.
Now what's on the trade table for next year? I should have some fiddleback redbox, yellowbox and redgum by then. You better let me know what sizes you want soon.

You generally find that a small crew can organise an event better than a big mob.

Timber Swap
Jeff, what Ken W and I have done for a lot of years is send each other a shopping list. He brings me up Red gum and the burls that I cannot get and I swap him timber that he wants from up here, that is why I brought all that Burdekin Plum down to the Turnout. Usually about July - August we start the emails with the shopping list to see what we can access. If you want to get involved in swapping, start sending requests and we will see who can get what you want.
regards,
Crocy.

I only know a couple off the top of me boof head.... The samovar and wash-set (jug & bowl) are by Ron Girdler from Rockhampton and the last piece (pics 11 & 12) is in Emu Apple by Ray Shaw who is also from Rocky.
