New purchases...(maybe)
Hi all,
I am not a woodturner, however in my retirement I have taken the plunge and decided to (turn) to woodcraft, having spent some time and an apprinticeship in metal turning. (enough crap)
Could anyone comment on the desirability or otherwise of the purchase of
Jet JWL-1442 14" x 42' lathe ...and
Carba-Tec CTJ-3501 14" Bandsaw.
also, I can get 10% of retail at the moment, or should I wait for the woodworking show next month.
Any comment woud be appreciated.
Many thanks
Bruce101Cheers all !!

Welcome aboard Bruce.
I have the Jet lathe and love it. My bandsaw is a Jet too, so can't comment on the carbatec. I was under the impression they are similar, but the Jet has a better motor, but someone else may have another opinion.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Hi Neil,
Many thanks for your reply, I do like thye Jet bandsaw, however dollars dictate and the Carba-Tec is ageeably cheaper and has a 200mm cut while still appears to be of a reasonable construction and able to cope with the work I have in mind.
I think I will stay with the Jet lathe as having now found many positive comments, it appears to be the way to go for this equipment.
Thanks,
Bruce101Cheers all !!
