Got a handle on the 5/8 U gouge.
Some kind of Fraxinus; finished with the wax for blokes who don't eat quiche ;-}
Flute finish is pretty good; bit rough at the top.
Will wear out this edge and then attempt a proper straight across grind. No idea how to do it.Cheers, Ern

Hey Ern, I would be interested to know how your Thompson 5/8" V Gouge compares with the newly aquired 5/8" U Gouge, when it comes to roughing down and shaping? Which one do you prefer?
Cheers

Well my three arrived yesterday morning. I've handled the 3/8 spindle gouge and as you can see by the dust on the tip I've taken it for a test drive. Very happy so far. Thats the handle for the 1/4" detail gaouge taking shape below it and I'll hopefully get the handle done for my new bowl gouge this weekend.
Once again a big thank you to Neil and Nick for all their efforts on this, it is very much appreciated.
Cheers
WH
