I think Tony is looking for lathe controls on a relocatable box. Start/Stop, Fwd/Rev & speed control. If thats the case Tony, it is pretty straight forward for a separate VFD controller but I don't know what connections the DVR has. It may have the facilty to connect a remote. The manual may be of assitance if you bought the lathe new or other DVR3000 owners may be able to assist.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

I think that's right, he wants all his controls movable. It appears he has seen a lathe running from a VFD on which the entire front panel attached by a cable can be moved around. Other posters (including myself) have confused the term "remote", to be "remote power" whereas I think Tony ants more than this.

That is what I have... a 'movable' control box connected via cable.

It sits on a movable stand with the stop button about knee high and I position it just back to the right of me wherever I'm standing.

As I do most of my turning outboard I need the control positioned so I don't need to move through the firing line to get to the controls on the lathe.

I also feel safer standing back from the lathe while dialing up the speed to just below vibration frequency on out of balance blanks.

My lathe is a Woodfast and the chaps from there told me I could extend the cable on mine with something like CAT6.
    Stay sharp and stay safe!

    now we are talking, Gents
Neil the one that grabbed my interest had magnets on it thus it 'stuck' to the bed
So where can I get one of these?

Tony they are not a generic device so you cannot usually buy off the shelf - and if you could there's little chance it would suit your machine..

Folks that have a 3rd party VFD on their lathe etc can usually unclip the front panel of the VFD and connect it via a cable to the VFD, they then mount that panel in a box with a magnet on the back.

VFD inside black box, small VFD display panel unclipped from VFD and connected to VFD by short cable brought through to the front of box so visible from outside
NB in this one the controls are not on the display panel but the 2 knobs and switch on lower edge of box. two speed controls (fine/coarse) and FWD/stop/REV

    OR

Folks that have a 3rd party VFD on their lathe etc can make up an auxillary control box (with a magnet on the back) with on/off fwd/rev controlls and connect it via a cable to the VFD
On the DP the VFD is inside small transparent cabinet, Aux control (perspex/ABS) box with big knob on front controls on/off, speed, and foot pedal on/off) on side of DP

This is on my BS, a remote VFD control switch box with a magnet on the back, on/off and speed control only.

For folks with a built in speed controlled machine you would need
    - look in the manual to see if this was possible
    - or ask the machine manufacturer if it was possible and or available.
If they had one you would think they would flout it ?

    Hi Tony,

Glad you're enjoying the lathe. Unfortunately we do not have any remotes available that work on the older machines. Our new machine, the Nebula, does have a remote and we are looking in to how to make it backwards compatible.

    so back at square 1
