There's a Paint Spot in Carrum downs, go in the for a look.
you'll find all the grades of paper in rolls and velro backed as well.

The paper is blue but that just means its used in panel beaters, same stuff.

You can buy by the metre.

I use the colour coded stuff and Hermes and sait at work Hermes is probably the best, and I normally get from the local companies like the sandpaper man, or at the wood show.

    Default The Paper.

    Hi mat_au,
I think the best you can buy is " Hermes 406 JFlex " Blue with a cloth backing.
    Have used it for at least 25yrs, & Jim & Irene of Carrolls sell it in 1M x 100mm. rolls @ approx $4.20. & in most Grits : 80, 100, 120, 150, 180, 240, 320, 400.
I wood think that they wood also have the other for making Discs.
    Regards,
    issatree.

I have had excellent service from The Sandpaper Man over the years. They are very helpful, very knowledgeable, and have very quick delivery. Great range of sandpapers for all applications. Have a look at thier website.
    regards,

I prefer Hermes J flex, Astradot and Sia paperbacked. The Sia paper is often overlooked by woodturners because its paper backed. Its very good quality and is great for small spindle work. Comes in standard paper sheet size that can be cut up to small 25 to 30mm squares for easy access to fine detail. If your skew work is good on detail you can start above 320 to 400

I use Hermes. Buy it by the roll. Not really cheap, but a 50 meter roll (in various grits) does take a fair bit of turning to get through.
Specialised joinery outlets sell the velrco backed stuff for disc sanders in a range of diameters.
