    Default Ship's Wheel

Hi Everyone=Haven't posted for a while so here we go, when I started with this wheel I was going to mount a clock in the centre, Then changed my mind and decided to give it to my grandkids,They love to play Pirates,
It is done in segments, out of pine offcuts. Now all is needed is a couple of coats of varnish and a post to mount it.
Hope they don't ask me to build them a Ship as well.
    Cheers Tony.

Yes I have 2 of them you see they're twins so when ever I make something it's always double except for this wheel.

    Cheers Tony.

Don't give it to the G'kids, build a boat to put under it!
Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

    Nice one Tony,
I have been mulling one of those over for some time now.
One question I have is how are the spoke ends attached to the inside rim. Just glue or dowel right through.
    Really top job.
    Regards
    John

Thanks John, once in place I drilled a 10mm hole and dowel with glue.half way through the rim.
then I drilled the hole bigger to 12mm and glued the handle with tenon. But you could leave a longer tenon on the handle.
Good Luck John it was a lot of fun. and the grandkids really love it.
    Cheers Tony.

I can see you are getting a buzz out of watching the kids play with this piece of workmanship. Such a shame though. Some old salt would love to have one of these hanging on his wall.

    Dills.
