    Default Single Phase Motor

    Hi all,
    Can anyone help me i need to know where i can find a single phase motor to convert a Woodfast Lathe from 3 phase

    Hare & Forbes have a range of electric motors, and McJing have some as well. Pay attention to the shaft diameter/length and the height of the shaft from the base plate. Speed will be either 1440 or 2800 RPM or thereabouts. Electrical wholesalers such as John R Turk, Auslec etc may be able to help as well.

    Have you considered powering the existing 3 phase motor with a single phase input VSD. You can use the existing motor and gain speed control and motor protection.
    There are a number of threads on this forum on how to go about it.

    That's the better idea. Cheaper too. And so many other benefits like soft start and overload protection, and also the 3-phase motor uses way less power.
