Hi guys, I am not too sure about this one .........
Not sure what I was thinking when turning this piece !
Is it woodturning or art or just crap ! and a waste of time ?
Anyhoo it,s rosewood "moon " not sure what the sphere was made from and a burl base
With a 6mm aluminum rod to hold everything together
I would like to know what others think , any criticism and advice welcome as always

    G'day smiife
Good to see you pushing the boundaries. I like the turning and texturing of the moon in particular. When I first looked at the piece last night I wasn't sure but looking again this morning I am quite liking. But art is very much a personal taste thing The piece is well turned and finished as usual

Reminds me of the Turkish flag.
Nice work and some skill in offset turning

Keep at it Smiife, every journey starts with one small step. I have made several variations of a theme until the inspiration is satisfied. Sometimes it has led me up a blind alley.

Your piece look ok to me, but I am not sure about the burl base. Maybe a sphere to represent the earth under the moon????

Hi Lyle, thank you for your comments, I think the Turkish flag has a star in there somewhere but that's a good thought for the next one ....

Oh yes Jim, now that's a good idea too!
But that burl is a closeup of the mountains..........
