Can someone in Sydney make some handles on a lathe?
Hi,
I don't own a lathe, but need some handles made. About 120mm long, 30mm thick out of something like Oak. Is there anyone that can do this, i'll happily pay you!
I'm making a door for a pizza oven and need to insert these handles over top of 2 stainless steel rods for obvious heat resistance.
Being in Sydney would be good.
thanks!
Michael.

Whereabouts in Sydney are you Michael?
The Hills Mens Shed could possibly do them for you. I don't know about oak, but I'm sure we could find something suitable.

Cut some dowel to length, drill a hole, then shape with a rasp/sandpaper. I have made several tool handles this way, and it allows non-symmetrical shapes. For example, if you wanted something like a curved, half-moon, it would be difficult on a lathe.

Standard metal file handles might also fit the bill.
