    Default Symtec

Simtec lathes, hope thats the way its spelt.

They were made in SA years ago and Iam getting involved with mildly disabled young people and would love to lay my hands on one of these lathes.
They were the copy sort with a flat bed.

    Any ideas???
    please

Hi Tony, don't know where to get one, but I am pretty sure they were called Symtec, so if searching the forum or Ebay you would get more hits with that spelling.

    Hope that helps.

    Edit:

None on Ebay atm, and none sold in the last 60 days

I have the Symtec 1300 (a shorter version of the 1500) it is a good lathe but I have not had much success with the copy attatchment, but it could be me. I turn Pens on it.
I believe that there is a Symtec Owners Group. Contact them they might know of something and for more details and spares.
If I hear of one I'll let you know!
If you are after a copying lathe, Woodfast make a copying attatchment for lathes that will fit most lathes, sliding on Melamine or a laminate top. Contact them for more details as it could be a cheaper alternative than the Symtec.

    Default Symtec Lathe

    Hi Tonto,
I saw a Symtec lathe in a second hand shop "Rust and Rustic" (I think) on Magill Rd in Adelaide some months ago, it had been there some nine months at least at that time as I had seen it there earlier. I think it was going for around $1100, looked okay, It may be worth a try, had a new chuck, Nova I think,
