    Default A Ten Cent Bowl

    G'day
I have been wanting to try this for some time and eventually I came upon a bag of old coins so I was ready to go .
I trued up the rim of the bowl and cut a groove about 6mm deep and wide enough for the two cent coins . I then poured epoxy in the groove to about 2mm deep and waited for it to go off.
Next day I gave the coins a quick bath in diluted hydrochloric acid to remove the tarnish and dried them in the oven . I then spread them round the groove and poured more resin on top .
When the resin had cured I turned away the underside of the groove to expose the resin and then turned the topside to true up the surface . I sat a spirit level on the bowl prior to pouring the resin but I was not accurate enough and I was afraid I was going to go through resin when I was trueing it up but I got there in the end . The rim ended up being about 4mm thick .I then finished off turning the bowl in the usual way .
The finish is WOP and the bowl is 310mm x 45mm .
    Comments welcome

Hey Ted, I counted 37 coins so it would be a 74c bowl! Great work and definitely thinking outside the square (or should I say circle). That's a one off and looks great - nice finish, good shape, and the coins really add value to it . The resin, above AND below, adds interest and finishes it off nicely.
