    Default thin spins

A while back someone asked about getting some turnings done. They were thin, one end 9/16" the other 1/2" and a 3/8" section extending out of the smaller end for 1 1/4". overall length was 12". I had recently moved my equipment into a new shop and decided to overhaul the lathe. This would include an increase in diameter from 10" to 12" throw and a vfd. since I was changing the diameter there were changes that had to be made elsewhere. the lathe is capable of single pass but since the diameter changed i would need to change some things there as well. I ended up setting up in the DIY lathe. I tried several tool grinds and approaches. no mater how skimpy I left the last cut it would chatter. Finally I decided to make a router mount for the lathe and try that.

here are a couple vids of the result

Functions well but might be a good idea to turn the router off while sanding - just in case.
