    Default New threaded boxes

Just love this rain, I get to do some shed time. Found a block of gidgee and wanted to try chasing some threads. It cut beautifully. Also, for the first time, tried cutting pearl shell to make some "buttons" for the lids, even that turned out ok. The gidgee was a bit firm, , and was much better to use a scraping technique rather than try to cut.
These are all 70mm diameter and vary from 70mm to 40mm high. Finish is Ubeaut glow.

So nice to see you have moved past the firewood pile at last
Interesting that it cuts a thread, thought it would chip out, must throw some on and retry that spiraling tool again,
    nice work as usual Jimmy,

Statement of fact or are you asking? If stating, goodonya. If asking I think we should form a committee and discuss this.

Remind me never to play lawn bowls with you... it ain't fair using ones with flat bottoms!

The MOP inlays set them off nicely; did you just silicone them in?
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Smiife, they were sanded up to 1200#, then EEE, then the glow was applied thinly with a piece of flannelette with the lathe stationary. With the lathe at speed, the wet part of the cloth was applied with pressure. Keep the cloth moving.
