First time bowl
As the name implies this will be my first try at making a bowl shape. It actually isnt going to be a useable bowl as such but a small (40ish mm dia) hollow out of a contrasting hardwood and let into a larger piece.
Is the best way to turn the hollow out of my stock across the grain? Does anyone ever turn hollows out of the end grain?
Cheers Phil

Lidded boxes about that size are made hollowing end grain. Do some research. You might want to make a practice piece hollowing into side grain to get a feel for the process. End grain hollowing is more difficult, especially going deep and narrow.
So much timber, so little time.
