Tiny bowl for Chet
Hi all, 2 days ago, my niece Adele made me my first grandnephew so I made him (Chet) a bowl to match his size.

I've always said to a woodturner there's no such thing as a piece of wood too small!
That is really excellent, perfect proportions and form and a brilliant finish.Dragonfly

That's delightful and a lovley wood choice too. She will treasure it I am sure. Not that easy getting that small is it?
I did some small stuff for a friend a few years back and will have to have another go at it
I really like doing the candle sticks, with a seperate candle of course
It is quite special to get down that small init...My ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.

Jon,
Your turnings are in Box (Buxus Sempervirens)a fantastic timber for high detail work.
I won't let the wife see these, one of her 'things' is dolls-houses, she'd love me to be tuning all the wooden acutraments for her one!Dragonfly

Ta DF. Why not do some bits and bobs for her in doors. Just think of the brownie points mate and they don't take long for even enough to FILL a dolls 'owse
I have a 1/16" spindle gouge that I use for very fine detail. The main difficulties with it to get the tool rest close enough to the job, about 1/8" clearance and sharpening the dammed thing. If you don't get it close enough it don't arf bloody well chatter I use it very rarely!
For any interested bods, this shows the size better
Sorry to knick your thread Touchwood, but I just wanted to show how small needn't be difficult. Keep em coming mate, you have some lovely wood there to show!My ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.
