    Default More Turning Tips

I stumbled across this looking for characteristics of White Ash.

Woodturning Education Articles by Steven D. Russell

    Timber Gloat

I had a call from an old client and friend from across town saying a White Ash tree had fallen, & was I interested. I had a look and told him yes. It was about 18 inches at the butt, tapering to about 12 inches, and 20 ft long. The power company had cut off the limbs and stacked the brush when they replaced the line.

I cut off 6 pieces for bowl blanks and took them home. The next day I came and got 5 & my friend gives me a check for $100 for removing the wood! I got 3 more loads to finish.

I have them all split through the pith and stacked in the shade. Time to get to work.
So much timber, so little time.

Thanks for the lead to a great site. Yoou are a lucky bugger. All that timber and paid to take it away. You found the end of the rainbow.
