    Default Tough brand lathe

Could anyone please tell me the specifications of one of these Aussie made lathes, made around the 1980's, also the weight of the lathe. Thanks.

    Default Tough Lathe

I'm sure there were several differently specified tough models.
They have cast iron beds and are very solidly built and very reliable. Were used extensively in high schools in Qld & Nsw.
Do internet search and see what turns up.

    Default Tough Lathe

Thanks for the replies. From what I can gather the lathe weighs 120 Kgs!
I have one that I have to pick up,(not literally!) how does one move such a beast? Can two men lift 120 Kgs?
    Regards

    G'day Rasp,

Two people can lift it easily. Heck my 5' 1" SWMBO and FIL lifted it out of a car and into my shed on the sly for me. Bless 'em. The job is made easier if you pull it apart a bit. To find out more about it and if you ever need to have parts fixed or remade then fire of some questions to Len Smith at the Woodsmith http://www.thewoodsmith.com.au/thewoodsmith/

He bought the license and rights for Tough lathes and has all the gear to fix and remake all things Tough.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Default Anyone in Noble Park area?

Just wondering if any member lives in or close to Noble Park area, and may be available if I get stuck lifting lathe into wagon. Will be down on Tuesday morning 4/12/2007.
