I missed out on one of them at auction a few months ago. I was distracted. It went for $50 with chisels.

They were very good value for money. The bearings are standard off the shelf bearings. I found the allow cast banjo and black handles fairly brittle.

    Default The Techo.

    Hi Chuck1,
Yes, I agree, a Great Lathe, & 1 reason is that it goes from 3000 down to 178 RPM.
    Great for outboard Turning.
Sometimes, there is a little bit of mucking around, to get both Tail & Head Stock to meet.
It was a clever Idea, putting the Bed on that angle, + the shavings all fall off.
    Regards,
    issatree.

good to know bearings are easy to source! I liked using them years ago and don't recall any comming back when we sold them!
that tail stock alignment was time consuming!
the tally is 4 lathes and 5 scroll chucks

I only have 3 scroll chucks, all GPW. Would love a Vicmarc or three

I have a few more lathes, only 5 at home and then another 7 down the street including 1 metal lathe & 1 treadle lathe.

Lacking space to set them up

    Thumbs up

    Good buying there Chuck!

I have a Teknatool TL1200 but it has 2 lengths of pipe for the bed.
The main problem I find with it is that the locks for the banjo and
the ttailstock are no cam locks. Mus t see if I can find some smart
soul to help me out with that.
