    Default turnin n whittlin

Finally got this one done, well first couple of coats of oil. Its Redgum with quilting around 150mm dia x 50mm, fiddly and a bit delicate.

That looks fantastic Hughie, I don't want to think how much you spent finishing it.

Another very nice piece Hughie, Tried my hand at this sort of rim once, too slow and delicate for me.

Lol Jim I did wonder what I had got myself into at one point as I seem to go around and around finding little flaws each time. One thing I have discovered towards the end I need to put it down and walk away and come back the next day to find its often ok.

lol yes there were times when I did wonder what the heck I am doing this for. The fiddliest piece I have ever done as I have been over it several times up to and including the first couple of coats of finish

Now, that's gotta be a keeper!

I dunno 'bout you, but it's those fiddly pieces that I'm proudest of if/when I finally do manage to finish 'em.

From what I can see it appears the scrollwork pattern is free-hand and not just a repeated template? That always scores extra brownie points from me.
