New Turnings
Past couple of days I have been able to get out and do something.
When not in here out of the rain or visiting daughter in hospital.
A small carvers Mallet a piece of Aussie H/wood I threw out to use on the BBQ but dug out again a quick sand to 360 & coat of a natural wax.
Approx 6" handle Honey Twirlers Tassie Oak x 2 not sure the other one sanded to 1200
LOML coated with olive oil
I can see I should use a fine file in the grooves
If anyone can guide me on how to improve on these I'd appreciate it
I have made the handles thick as the flimsy ones we have bought in the past break to easy in some honeys.
The Vase out of New Guinea Rose Wood sanded to 1200 given 2 coats of Shellawax
The blank was given to me at Hare & Forbes sale day Thanks Peter
Nice stuff to turn smells like a barn yard on a yet day.
I roughed turned between centres then into Nova G3 chuck to drill a 5/8" hole and finish shaping. I was able to use the Bowl gouge internal and widen the hole from about halfway down to the top a wall thickness of approx 1/8" . Depth of hole is 90mm.
