the tool post is a grate way to spend a day and a load of cash.

If you look up the uk woodturning mag website I think the have a like to clubs and places on there website

I've been wondering if maybe I should offer some suggestions, guess this thread answers that.

To start you, here is a link to the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain

: if you look under the menu heading for Clubs you'll find Maps of where and address/contact/web-links etc., list of all clubs. So you should be able to find quite a few in and around the London area to visit and keep you evenings occupied in your 4 weeks.

: Under the Events heading there should be (if it's up-to-date) any major things happening - turning master classes, all day demo's etc.

: under the Seminar there are a few details of our bi-annual seminar being held in August (I don't know your visit period but I doubt you'll make it), however to whet your appetite here are a link to this years and photos of previous,
Loughborough.

There is always travellings exhibition (2 going in different directions) of the work entered into the Seminar. if you let me know when you'll be here I'll see if I can find out where they might be.

What else... I'll post these few so you can look to see if there is anything of interest while your here.

The Worshipful Company of Turners - The Livery Company to which all Professionally British Turners belong. If you can get to see some of the work they posses you will be in awe. We share a Hall in London with another Guild and if your read through you'll discover why St Catherine (She of the Wheel) is the Patron Saint of Turners.

British woodturners Association - more an organisation for companies that produce turned items.

Society of Ornamental Turners - Those people who do wonderful things with Rose Engines.

Again I've no idea of how tolerant your good lady might be of your driving to various shops,

: about 80 miles West of London (along the M4) is The Toolpost - probably the best equipped turning tool shop in the UK

: 40 Miles East of London (along the M2) is a new Axminster store.

I've been thinking about my previous post.

Maybe I've been a little too 'Small Island' in my offer. I'm sure you'll want to get around and see something really woodturning related. I know Barry Surplus, he owns a couple of forgeworks in Sheffield, about 170 miles away from London.

As for Woodturners, you could approach George (Cornucopia in this forum), you both do inset resin work. I know and could ask Mark Sanger he did a collaboration in Aus the end of last (our) summer. One of the UK's top artistic turners. That would take in the west country.

Have you thought to look at the UK Woodturning magazine. Their editor, Mark Baker would also be a great contact. Anywhere near Joey Richardson? Her work, for those who haven't seen it is simply amazing. Chris Stott (who now lives in Spain and, I believe, was one of her early turning teachers) told me about her when he visited last year. I have his email address if you'd like to ask him for suggestions. Just pm me.

Are you travelling to Ireland at all? Can also give you email addresses for Glenn Lucas and Liam O'Neil if interested. Not sure if they are in the public domain.
