Finally I got roundtoit and made a handle for my Lethal Weapon, aka the Ripsnorter. The total length of the LW is some 930mm without the insert and has some heft.
The handle is Jarrah and has a slight indentation 100 from the shaft and finger grips for the rear hand. It is finished to 600 and only DO so it gives a positive grip to it. I am mid way into grinding a "Half Round" profile to the end of the insert, photo's to come.
I did give it a quick go to hollow out a bowl, full width shavings till I got a catch and snapped the spigot, twiceLast edited by Pat; 29th March 2009 at 01:51 PM. Reason: addenun

Yep I think the sketches make sense
Not sure I'd use the jig as I do my drilling on the lathe prior to turning. Thanks for the plans anywayregards

No worries Nick, I find it handy for gluing. it keeps the handle vertical to allow the araldite to do its job.
Pat, thats a good sized handle. Jarrah would be a good counter balance as well.Be interested to see how it performs for you.Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso

run out deal
Have a look in the BuySwap n' Sell section. I am running out the last few [4] in sets. Junior, Senior and Ripsnorter at a reduced price. First in best dressed, I need to clear everything away for the next lot of tools I have on the drawing board. There will be a fair bit of testing over the next couple of months.

I forgot totally about this tool!!!!
Hughie, would you be able to make me a small one maybe? Something that would be useful on end grain on a box or goblet that is only 3 or 4 inches across? I don't tend to work bigger then that.

Hi Eliza I have one the Junior, its about 9" long and around 3/4" diameter, sounds abity heavy but it does perform well on small stuff as this is what I designed it for
I can send you some pics with a rule next to them PM me your email address as the does not seem to be any way to send pics with PMsInspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso
