Useless but interesting
On the weekend I had to cut back some branches on a big old blood wood. One of the smaller branches had a cross shaped formation. I have not seen this very often. Always in for a challenge I saved the piece and turned it this morning. The finished piece would fit inside a 160mm circle. Had some interesting moments turning. Useless but a fascinating exercise. And, it is one piece of wood for a change..
JimSometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important...

Very interesting! I can imagine those "moments". Might hold a mango.

G'Day Jim
Not going to ask how you went about turning it but the result is certainly stunning.
Cheers

Not at all useless - it'd make an ideal 'coaster' to identify your drink at a bbq.

As one turner whose name I have forgotten said, "the more useless the object, the more money I can get for it".
Nice piece. So much timber, so little time.

That's a cool piece Jim. Most "art" is regarded as "useless" by someone. Having just finished a piece with 1344 segments, I am going to turn one-piece weed pots for a while.

I agree - if you don't want it, sell it as an art object! Remember - $500 minimum
