    Default Vicmarc VL150

I currently have fairly old Timbecon lathe. It has a 2hp motor with electronic variable speed.
It's time to replace this lathe and as i mainly turn pens and bowls up to 300mm diameter I'm wondering if the VL150 with just 1hp would do the job. I know the pens would be a no brainer but will it cope with bowl turning when pushed to 250 - 300mm in size?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Cheers,
    Peter

The VL150 will easily cope with what you have in mind. IMO they are the Rolls Royce of "midi-lathes."

I'm not biased being a Queenslander.

At a canter, as would any good 1HP lathe.

The earlier Woodfast lathes I used that only had 1HP comfortably turned larger pieces than 300mm, which was done outboard.

    Default my 2 bobs worth

Yup 1 HP a walk in the park, if the Vicmarc doesnt have a variable speed drive you will miss it. But otherwise as stated a Rolls Royce of a machine.
