    Question Candle stick designs

G'day all, having started to learn turning this year, the requests for items have started - family have requested a candle stick holder. Now, getting an idea of what they actually want is proving a little difficult - i know they're after something relatively chunking with some height, the goal being to have a thick candle in its holder that together stand about 40cm, give or take......I'm after any design suggestions (modern or traditional) or templates, any wood recommendations would be welcome too.....thanks for any help.

When I run dry of ideas I "google images" whatever it is I intend to make there are enough picture there so that you can take a bit from different ones to make your own design. OK maybe some see this as cheating

I do that to. I think the key thing is "take a bit from each design". Not cheating by any means. I think this is what all designer do. Look at what has gone before. Develop from that. Things can even be learned from copying, but perhaps tell people its a copy.

Have a look at the South Auckland Woodturners Guild website http://www.sawg.org.nz/wordpress/wp-...dle-Holder.pdf

or do a google search fo "woodturning projects" +candle

That will open up a heap of options & unusual ones like http://www.fingerlakeswoodturners.co...bruary2011.pdf
