    Default three winged hollowform

    G'day
This is my latest effort. It's based on a YouTube video by Eddie Caplin called The Bottomless Box . I don't know how to make the link but I'me sure someone will do it.
The blank was a 135mm cube and it is initially turned between centres by mounting diagonal corners between the tailstock spindle and a live centre with the point removed.
The timber is merbau and it stands 200mm high to the top of the finial . It's a bit hard to measure the width but the distance between the points is 190mm. The base of the lid is merbau but the finial is from a scrap bit of pink decking of unknown species .
As you can see there is a flaw in the timber which was not evident when I started so I had to pour in plenty of CA to make sure it all held together.
    The finish is DO.
An interesting exercise. I hope you like it.

I've seen some of Cap'n Eddies videos, but not this one.

Very nice job you made of turning that and a good finish too. Well done.

    Thanks for the comments.
Ian.definatly not purple heart in the finial .It is what's sold for decking here as "forest red".A mixture or red timbers like iron bark.

It reminds me a little of an egg in a cup.

    I like it.
