Old Woodfast Lathe info
I am very fond of the old Woodfast lathes. They are solid lathe darn near bullet proof and the one I currently own is no different. But unlike my previous one the bed stamping for info is a bit cryptic. So I thought I would seek the wisdom of the great body of peers on the forum.
Ok the only marking I can find is a poorly legible stamping on the bed SB1 102-79. It looks like a very early 400 as it has a swing of 400+ with all characteristics of same, and it appears the year of manufacture may well be 1979. I would normally supply images but I have it in pieces giving it a clean up in preparation of moving it on, nothing to dramatic at this stage replacement of missing knobs, cleaning up of the paint work, tightening the motor bolt, looking over the belt etc.Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso

Have rung around a few woody friends on this one, its seems its quite old 1979 so probably pre-dates the 400's. It looks bigger than the 400 I had but I cant be certain as it was more than 10 years ago. The swing is 460mm or 18" over the gap, if anybody has info on old Woodfast lathes it would be greatly appreciated
